SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS
More than 25-year experience in the field of AMPs: (i)Functional characterization of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) from amphibian skin secretions; (ii) Development of experimental procedures to determine their antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic and cytolytic activities;)(iii) Mechanism of action of membrane-active AMPs on artificial and biological systems by means of biochemical and biophysical techniques; (iv) Studies on the role of AMPs in innate immunity, (v) Development of amphibian peptides as potential drugs.
