Mariella Pazzaglia is an Associate Professor at the Department of Psychology at Sapienza University of Rome (Italy), and has been awarded the National Scientific Qualification as a Full Professor. She is a renowned researcher in the field of Clinical Neuroscience, with a specific focus on understanding how individuals respond to experiences of the body and action.

As the coordinator of the Clinical Neuroscience Laboratory in the Department of Psychology and the Body and Action LAB at the IRCCS S. Lucia Hospital of Rome, Dr. Pazzaglia conducts research using multimodal, non-invasive neuromodulation tools to improve neurophysiological and behavioral functions in both healthy subjects and patients with spinal and brain injuries.

Dr. Pazzaglia has collaborated with research groups in Italy, Switzerland, England, and the USA. Her studies on the neural basis of action in brain-damaged patients and bodily sensations in spinal cord-injured patients have been published in many peer-reviewed publications, including Current Biology, Neuron, The Journal of Neuroscience, Trends in Cognitive Sciences, Behavioral Brain Science, and Physics Life Review.

Dr. Pazzaglia has been awarded grants from various sources, including the MIUR, SEED, EU-funded projects, SWISS International Foundation for Research in Paraplegia, and the Italian Ministry of Health. She also serves as a member of the Editorial Board of Scientific Reports, Plos one, Journal of Clinical Medicine, and PeerJ.

Dr. Pazzaglia has been teaching at the Master Degree level at the Department of Psychology, Sapienza University and Wuhan University in China since 2010. Her courses include Neuropsychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, and Neuroscience in Forensic Contexts. She has supervised and mentored over 100 students ranging from undergraduate to PhD level, supporting the careers of numerous postdoctoral fellows.
