Degree in Chemistry, July 1987, University of Rome La Sapienza. Rating: 110,110 laude. Title: FT-IR spectra in calcium halide matrix. PhD in Chemical Sciences (4th cycle), 1992, University of Rome La Sapienza. Title: Study of molecular structures in the vapor phase. CNR Scholarship (1988) at the High Temperature Chemical Thermodynamics Center. University researcher in Physical Chemistry from November 1994 to October 2002 at the Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences of the University of L'Aquila. Associate Professor in Physical Chemistry from October 2002 to September 2019 at the Department of Physical and Chemical Sciences of the University of L'Aquila. Associate Professor in Physical Chemistry from September 2019 to today at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Rome La Sapienza.
Scientific area: Physical chemistry
Research activity:
1. Study of the structure of molecular species in vapor phase produced by vaporization of liquids and / or solids. Different systems have been studied by a jointed theoretical and experimental approach that has allowed to assign and interpret infrared spectra of the molecules.
2. Accurate determinations of molecular geometries by electron diffraction technique. The geometries of a large class of molecules, the derivatives of benzene, have been determined with high accuracy, from the study of their electron diffraction spectrum.
3. Study of the changes of molecular geometry produced by hydrogen bonding.
4. Study of the structure and properties of liquids and solutions by X-ray diffraction and molecular dynamics simulations.
