Paolo De Filippis obtained his Master degree in Chemical Engineering in 1988 with marks 110/110 with honors at Sapienza University of Rome. After a short industrial experience soon after his degree, Paolo De Filippis has held a position of Assistant Professor at Sapienza University of Rome from 1991 to 1999. During this period he spent a short term research period at the Institut Francaise du Petrol and two long term research periods at the University of Wyoming (USA) studying new systems for the reduction of pollutants in coal combustion. Since 2000 he is part of the teaching staff of the Chemical Engineering degree courses where he teaches Industrial Chemical Processes and Oil and Gas Technology before as Associate Professor and from 2020 as Full Professor.
From 2011 he served National and International institutions as evaluator of industrial and research projects.
The research activity, mainly focused in the study and development of chemical processes to the valorization of industrial waste, in the last years is targeted in fundamental and applicative studies for the production of bio-fuel by gasification/pyrolysis (conventional and hydrothermal) processes from biomasses and civil and industrial wastes. Related to this activity he is member of the scientific advisory committee of the Hydroeco center, is Associate Editor of the journal Energies, member of the scientific board of the open Journal of Waste Management and of the International Journal of Bioprocessing and Biotechniques, he was also member of the scientific advisory committee and is associate editor of the of the International Conferences on Waste Management and Environment.
His research was supported both by the Italian Ministry of Education and Research (MIUR) and by national (KT-Kinetic Tecnology, Conser, Eldor, etc. Nextchem) and international (Guascor, Bio & Waste Inc., Orion Ecosolution Inc.) private companies. The more applicative results of these researches have given rise to the filing of more than 10 patents
