Due to teacher's institutional commitments, the lesson of Advanced Software Engineering on Wednesday 22 March 2023 will not be held. Lessons will resume on Friday 24 March 2023 in Aula Alfa, Via Salaria 113.
For the weeks of 6 and 13 March 2023, lessons on Fridays (10 and 17 March) will not take place and will be replaced with lessons from 10.00 to 13.00 on Tuesdays (7 and 14 March) in Room S1 of building RM113 (VIALE Regina Elena 295, Building E). This solution is made possible by the exchange with the lessons of Professor Cilli's Information Systems teaching (whom I thank).

Laurea in Fisica, Dottorato in Informatica (VI Ciclo), Ricercatore in Informatica dal 1994 al 2000, Professore Associato di Informatica dal 2000 al 2017, Professore Ordinario dal 2017. Insegna Advanced Software Engineering presso il Corso di Laurea Magistrale in Computer Science, Business Process Management presso il Corso di Laurea Magistrale in Management delle Imprese, e Fondamenti di Programmazione con Laboratorio presso il Corso di Laurea in Scienze Matematiche per l'Intelligenza Artificiale, tutti in Sapienza. E' Adjunct Professor dell Università di Aizu-Wakamatsu, dove ha tenuto, negli anni di attivazione, il corso su Software Development Tools nell ambito della Graduate School LeadingEdge IT Specialist ed è Honorable Guest Professor della Shizuoka University a Hamamatsu, dove tiene seminari su argomenti avanzati di Informatica.
La sua ricerca si concentra sulla elaborazione interattiva, con particolare attenzione ai modelli formali per la definizione di linguaggi visivi e informatici interattivi, applicazioni multimediali per i processi creativi e la fruizione del patrimonio culturale. Autore di oltre 200 pubblicazioni scientifiche su riviste internazionali, volumi collettanei e atti di conferenze.
Relatore e correlatore di oltre 50 tesi di laurea, in Fisica, Scienze dell'Informazione e Informatica su argomenti relativi al riconoscimento di strutture in immagini naturali, alla modellazione dell'incertezza, alla definizione di strumenti di calcolo interattivi, alla definizione formale di linguaggi visivi, a modelli per l'ingegneria del software. Tutore di tre tesi di Dottorato in Informatica sulla pianificazione adattiva di workflow in ambienti mobili, l'interazione con dispositivi touch, e l'annotazione di materiale multimediale. Tutore di oltre 40 attività di tirocinio formativo per lauree triennali del settore INF01. è stato membro di comitati di ammissione e di valutazione in Dottorati Italiani e Stranieri.
Ha partecipato a numerosi progetti nazionali, coordinando l attività dell Unità di Roma in due di questi, ed europei, in particolare coordinando l attività della sede di Roma per un progetto di mobilità di giovani ricercatori. Ha svolto attività di revisore per il ministero della ricerca e per università italiane e straniere. Membro del nucleo di valutatori dell ANR francese.
È stato membro, presidente di comitato di programma scientifico, o organizzatore, di numerose conferenze internazionali. È stato editore invitato di numeri speciali di riviste internazionali. Membro del Consiglio Editoriale del Journal of Computer Languages, delJournal of Visual Language and Computing e di Human-Centric Computing and Information Sciences, e degli Steering Committee della International Conference on Graph Transformations e dell'IEEE Symposium on Visual Languages / Human-Centric Computing e della Working Conference on Advanced Visual Interfaces. Collabora con gruppi di ricerca in Spagna, Gran Bretagna e Giappone.
