Giovanni Di Bartolomeo is Chair Professor of Economic Policy in the Department of Economics and Law at the Sapienza University of Rome since 2016. Here, he is Senior Research Fellows of the School for Advanced Studies, Director of the MSc in Economics of Money Credit and Finance (EMCF), and Member of the Department Board. He has been the Director of the Sapienza Graduate Program in Economics (PhD). Moreover, he is Member of the Board of Experts at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Senior Fellow at LUISS School of European Political Economy, and External Member of the Evaluation Board at the University of Teramo.

He received his BA from Sapienza University of Rome in 1997 and spent time as a Master student at Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona), where he obtained his MSc in Economics in 1998. He completed his PhD in Economics at the Sapienza University of Rome in 2002.

Giovanni joined the Department in 2012 as Associate Professor. Previously, he was Associate Professor at the the University of Teramo from 2005 to 2012. There, he served as Member of the Board of the Communication Department (2009-12), Director of the postgraduate program in Management and Business Communication (2009-12), and Director of the the postgraduate master in Geopolitics Economic Globalization and International Institutions (2011-16). Before Teramo, he was employed at the Sapienza University as tenured lecturer (ricercatore) from 2002 to 2005; Assistant Professor of Econometrics at the University of Antwerp UFSIA-RUCA from 2000 to 2002; Research Assistant at the Labor Market Department of the Italian National Statistical Institute (ISTAT) from 1999 to 2000.

He is policy adviser for different institutions, including the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance. He served as Director of the CUIA International network on renewable energies (2007-10). He was Marie Curie Fellow in the Department of Economics at the University of Crete (2007-08). He used to teach in PhD program in economics of the University of Pisa and in the join PhD program in economics of Universities of Milan Bicocca and Cattolica, Milan. He was Affiliate Professor of International Economics and European Economic Integration at the Richmond Centre of Studies (2003-07). He was also visiting professor at the University of Antwerp, CEFOS (University of Goteborg), Tilburg University, George Mason University, CORE (Louvain-la-neuve).

Giovanni is active in the fields of monetary and fiscal policy, macroeconomics, and experimental economics. His main contributions have been published in leading international academic journals. He has also published several research monographs with Cambridge University Press and Elsevier/Springer.
