TERZA MISSIONE

Nel corso degli ultimi anni ha attivato diverse Convenzioni e Contratti di ricerca con Enti e Istituzioni, per la ricerca in ambito Inclusione, Tecnologie per l integrazione di persone con disabilità sensoriali e cognitive, per la diffusione delle conoscenze sulle tematiche inerenti l approccio scientifico e basato sulle evidenze in ambito psicologico, educativo, riabilitativo.

Coordina il Progetto: [0078] Tecnologie assistive e apprendimento collaborativo per l'inclusione, per Alternanza Scuola-Lavoro, presso il Laboratorio di Tecnologie Assistive del Dipartimento di Psicologia Dincamica e Clinica di Sapienza Università di Roma.

ATTIVITA DI RICERCA

Linee di ricerca:

Metodologia della Ricerca. Metodi e tecniche per l analisi dei dati in ambito clinico. Psicofisiologia e psicometria per lo studio del comportamento. Informatizzazione delle procedure di acquisizione e analisi di dati sperimentali. Implementazione di modelli statistici avanzati. Statistica medica. Health Management: Modelli matematici e strategie di analisi dei dati. Metodi per la formazione a distanza. ICT e disabilità: Tecnologie assistive e tecnologie per i disturbi dell apprendimento; collaborative learning. Fattori umani e qualità della vita. Comunicazione e informazione in ambito clinico e di ricerca. L'attività di ricerca è volta alla creazione di una sinergia fra metodi di ricerca, neuroscienze, cultura della disabilità e dell'integrazione, didattica e ricerca educativa, nel contesto formale e contenutistico delle scienze dell informazione.

RESPONSABILITÀ SCIENTIFICHE IN PROGETTI INTERNAZIONALI

2016: Responsabile del Progetto: Data mining delle variabili dei centri di costo della gestione ospedaliera. Efficacia e qualità della vita, Bando Accordi Bilaterali 2016 con l'Universidad ISalud di Buenos Aires, Argentina;
Il programma di questo Accordo bilaterale si collega al precedente, sempre fra Sapienza Università di Roma e Universidad ISalud di Buenos Aires (2014), con la collaborazione di UCADH (The University Consortium for Adaptive Disorders and Head pain). Il precedente Accordo, e le attività congiunte, hanno permesso la partecipazione di Sapienza al Progetto Europeo LASALUS (Professionalization on Result-based Healthcare Management through Distance Education and Simulation-Based Training. Il Progetto è stato finanziato dalla Commissione Europea (CE) mediante il programma Erasmus plus dell'Agenzia Esecutiva per l'Educazione, l'Audiovisivo e la Cultura (EACEA) con circa un milione di euro, per tre anni. Nel corso delle attività del progetto, iniziato in ottobre 2015, insieme a ISalud abbiamo identificato un tema di approfondimento che andrebbe realizzato mediante l accordo che presentiamo. L'oggetto riguarda il data mining e la valutazione dell efficacia degli interventi in ambito clinico. Il nostro Dipartimento metterebbe a disposizione le competenze metodologiche, di analisi dei dati, di sviluppo di software ad hoc, oltre alle competenze cliniche che hanno a che fare con l efficacia osservata e percepita degli interventi e la costruzione di strumenti psicometrici per la valutazione della qualità della vita dei pazienti. L Universidad ISalud ha già realizzato sistemi di valutazione in ambito socio-sanitario. Nel Progetto LASALUS, come coordinatore, sta coordinando e sperimentando strumenti per la analisi delle necessità gestionali e formative nei sistemi sanitari che collaborano al Progetto (11 partner).
Con data mining si intendono le metodologie e tecniche utilizzate per l analisi e la sistematizzazione di grandi set di dati. Il data mining è applicato con successo in diversi campi come l economia e il marketing oltre che le scienze naturali, l ingegneria e la ricerca operativa. Recentemente si sta sviluppando un forte interesse da parte delle discipline che hanno a che fare con la clinica per le metodologie volte alla creazione di predittori. L approccio con tecniche di data mining permette di valutare l efficacia di predittori sfruttando le conoscenze disponibili in ambito clinico, inserite in sistemi di knowledge-organization; essi cercano di spiegare le scelte effettuate una volta che i modelli vengono utilizzati per supporto a decisioni cliniche, supportando tutto ciò con parametri oggettivi adatti a una verifica quantitativa. Infatti, insieme a queste tecniche vengono utilizzate tecniche più classiche quali analisi della solidità delle ipotesi mediante analisi della varianza, identificazione di fattori portanti l informazione generale, mediante analisi fattoriale, analisi di elementi che possano indicare l outcome a partire dal modello inziale, mediante regressione multipla o logistica. L obiettivo di un predittore data mining in clinica è quello di contribuire alla costruzione di un modello che possa utilizzare informazioni relative al paziente per predire l outcome di interesse per supportare ulteriormente le decisioni cliniche: esso viene infatti utilizzato per la costruzione di modelli decisionali per procedure di prognostica, diagnostica e pianificazione del trattamento. La sempre più diffusa disponibilità di metodologie e strumenti computazionali per l analisi e la creazione di modelli predittivi richiede ai ricercatori e agli esperti informatici di ricercare tra queste le strategie le più adatte alla soluzione di problemi di previsione e gestione clinica. Nel campo del management sanitario, che dispone e deve confrontarsi con sistemi big data rilevanti sia per la mole dei dati che per la loro importanza e sensibilità, si possono sfruttare con risultati prima inimmaginabili le previsioni possibili attraverso questi sistemi, in termini di aumento della conoscenza, di feedback verso eventuali modifiche o integrazioni ai processi e prodotti della ricerca, in termini di ottimizzazione e simulazione degli outcome previsti.

Aims
To support the modernization, accessibility and internationalization of higher education in the field of Health Care Management in LA Countries, in cooperation with HEIs from EU which are willing to bring their expertise and experience related to the specific objectives of the project;
To support LA Countries in their improvement of quality, relevance, equity of access, planning, and delivery of training offers in Health Care Management of their Higher Education Institutions (HEIs);
To contribute to the development of sustainable and inclusive socio-economic growth in LA Countries, as well as an increased social cohesion and equity, thanks to a better access to enhanced quality and efficient health care services by means of an improved management of those healthcare services;
To reinforce education in response to today s main challenges of LA countries (employment, economic stability and growth, as well as an active participation in democratic life), especially within the field of healthcare services, which are the ones that move the greatest amount of economic resources worldwide, employ the highest number of people and are able to produce, faster than by any other means, social equity, wealth redistribution and the full exercise of a social right: health;
To enhance the relevance of higher education in the field of Health Care Management, for the labor market and the society, improving the level of competences and skills through innovative education programmes;
To promote voluntary convergence of training offers in Health Care Management of Latin American HEIs, with developments in this field in European HEIs, helping along people to people contact, intercultural awareness and understanding, in a multi-county HEIs networking.

2014: Responsabile del progetto: ICT E FORMAZIONE A DISTANZA NEL SETTORE DELLA METODOLOGIA DELLA RICERCA; Bando Accordi Bilaterali 2014; Universidad ISalud- Buenos Aires-Argentina;
The project aim is to establish a connection among Universities, Research Centers, Research and Clinical Institutions in Europe and in Latino-America, in order to create a multidisciplinary comprehensive tutorial promoting the transfer of knowledge, education and good practice on Research Methods.
The activities programmed in order to be shared are: e-Learning, e-Health, promotion of the international activities between Sapienza (Italy), ISalud (Argentina) and UCADH (Italy). The University Consortium for Adaptive Disorders and Head pain (UCADH) conducts research on a large scale in the field of head and facial pain, adaptive disorders and related comorbid conditions.
The Consortium comprises four founder members two universities and two research foundations and nine highly specialized associated centers spread across Italy.
ICT and e-learning can improve the collaboration between our universities, allowing researchers, clinicians and students to share knowledge and learning strategies.
Our goal it is to create virtual classes and laboratories, in the field of Research Methods, where it is possible to merge and share the different approaches and practice used in the universities and institutions involved.
To increase the robustness of these learning method, we will use a blended way for e-learning activities. Periodically, researchers of the universities and institutions involved will organize seminars and workshop to the colleagues, showing the results achieved.
We promote the use of a Collaborative learning methology.. At the base of collaborative learning is the activity of each members, which activates processes of active learning" that takes place in a non-competitive community in which all members of the group contribute to the learning of all collaborate in the construction of knowledge. within a group enhancement and collaboration underlying the Collaborative -Learning. It is a mode of learning that is based on the interaction within a group of students working together, trying to reach common goals , through an in-depth study and learning. on all parts of a patterned placing the same goal. Last, but not least, this methodology of learning and communication may improve learning in presence of some difficulties depending on sensorial or cognitive disabilites.
All the courses will be implemented on an open-access platform. The materials will be completely accessible to people with sensory impairment (blind and deaf). Test and questionnaires for the evaluation of learning levels achieved will be implemented and tested for psychometrical robustness and validity. Both web_based and off-line input of data will be used. Also will be implemented questionnaires for the efficay and quality perceived by the students.

Responsabilità in progetti e incarichi

2017-: Miembro del Consejo Académico de la Carrera de Especialización en Administración Hospitalaria, con modalidad a Distancia; CONEAU (Comisión Nacional de Evaluación y Acreditación Universitaria); Secretaría de Políticas Universitarias del Ministerio de Educación (Argentina); Il Consiglio Accademico analizza e raccomanda al Rettore la creazione delle carriere universitarie di Specializzazione, Master e Dottorato. Dopo aver approvato la adeguatezza e l opportunità della creazione dei titoli, il Rettore sottopone la proposta all attenzione del Consiglio Superiore, che decide in base ai criteri di pertinenza e qualità del progetto presentato. Nel caso in cui la proposta venga approvata, passa al Consiglio Accademico, che designa un team (sotto il suo controllo) per la preparazione del Progetto di carriera, stabilendo un termine per la presentazione dello stesso. Infine, è il Consiglio accademico che deve approvare il suddetto progetto e il corrispondente piano di studi. I progetti di carriera approvati dal Consiglio accademico sono presentati al Ministero della Cultura e dell Istruzione al fine di elaborare la loro approvazione.

2017-: Membro del Gruppo di Ricerca: Progetto di ricerca per la rete di ricerca ISTAT ; Development of alternative models to CGE modeling framework and estimation of wellbeing functions; Referente: dott. Fabiola Riccardini, ISTAT; Based on the current ISTAT state of art knowledge about well-being measurement and the overall sustainable and equitable well-being (BES) project, SDGs measures, the steps ahead will be addressed towards two main paths. On one hand an intermediate step will aim to estimate the total capital stock which include economic capital (physical and financial), natural capital, human capital, social capital and cultural capital in order to enlarge and complete the supply side function. Of course this line imply to solve many measurement problems related to the estimations of those quite new type of capitals, as natural, and reach a theoretical agreement for human and social capital. Nevertheless ISTAT is progressing in experimental data productions on those kinds of capitals.
Always in this intermediary stage we are looking to dashboard of indicators to analyse vulnerabilities and resiliencies for maintaining wellbeing over time. Vulnerabilities are approached by a risk factors analysis. Resiliencies are conceived as a mix of capabilities and capitals approaches. On the other hand of the main paths the goal will be to estimate an unconventional well-being function, namely the BES function, in which starting from the existing well-being domains selected variables will enter the function in order to state analytically what actually people value as wellbeing. Once the function will have been estimated an assessment of the environmental impacts on well-being will be feasible. This second line of action is the more challenging one, but major efforts are doing for reaching to a model of wellbeing, where the environmental aspects have the same importance than the economic and social as well as governance aspects (Riccardini F. 2014, Riccardini F. at all 2016).

Paolo Preziosi; si è occupato di a) attivazione di sistemi informatici nell ambito delle attività di ricerca e didattiche; b) analisi statistica dei dati della ricerca: modellizzazione matematica di disegni sperimentali in farmacologia; progetto di algoritmi e implementazione per studi di farmacocinetica e farmacodinamica; c) informatizzazione del servizio di monitoraggio delle concentrazioni ematiche dei farmaci Servizio di Farmacologia;

dal 1992 al 1995 ha svolto attività di ricerca presso il Laboratorio di Psicofisiologia del Dipartimento di Psicologia, Università degli Studi "La Sapienza", coordinato dal prof. Luciano Mecacci, per lo studio della psicofisiologia delle funzioni cognitive nell uomo, approfondendo l indagine dei livelli di vigilanza e dello stress;

dal 1991 al 1993 ha partecipato a un progetto di ricerca presso l Istituto di Psichiatria e Psicologia dell'Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Roma, responsabile il prof. Giuseppe Ruggeri, su: La formazione di nuove strutture mentali come risultato di un trattamento psicoterapeutico ; in tale contesto si è occupato di analisi statistica dei dati e di modellistica dei processi indagati;

dal 1995 al 2000 ha svolto attività di ricerca con il prof. Giuseppe Bombardieri - Istituto di Patologia Medica dell'Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Roma, utilizzando tecniche psicofisiologiche e psicometriche nella diagnosi e nel monitoraggio dell evoluzione clinica dell Encefalopatia Epatica;

nel 1995 nell ambito delle attività di ricerca del gruppo coordinato dal prof. Vilfredo De Pascalis, Dipartimento di Psicologia, Università degli Studi "La Sapienza", ha curato lo sviluppo e l implementazione di algoritmi per la identificazione ed eliminazione degli artefatti in segnali bioelettrici (EEG, EKG, EMG) acquisiti con la strumentazione del laboratorio di psicofisiologia;

dal 1995 al 1996 ha collaborato con il Centro per la Diagnosi della Sclerosi Multipla, presso il Dipartimento di Scienze Neurologiche dell'Università degli Studi di Roma "La Sapienza", direttore il prof. DIRECTION OF RESEARCH GROUPS IN UNIVERSITY, NATIONAL OR INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH INSTITUTES
- from to October 2018 to October 2020: Manager / Coordinator for Sapienza University of Rome of the "CONSENS" European Project - Latin American Consensus for the Internationalization in Postgraduate Education; Funded by the European Commission (EC) through the Erasmus+ Programme of the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA); The CONSENSUS project trims down the internationalization process of LA HEIs, focusing on the interuniversity and intergovernmental agreements necessary to consolidate this internationalization in the academic area of the universities, and within it, in postgraduate careers. To this end, two substantive strategies have been chosen to achieve a postgraduate training of excellence on which there is a common recognition and valuable international experiences that can be taken into account: student-centered learning and quality assurance. The acronym of the project aims to express the indispensable raw material that allows to establish interuniversity bridges. The consensus on learning based on the student, specifically in what refers to learning outcomes, skills and credits, as well as in relation to quality assurance, will be put into action in at least one postgraduate degree of each university member of the consortium. This approach to the project aims to provide practical tools that facilitate the replication of experience in other graduate careers, contributing to consolidate and enhance two of the most common strategies of the internationalization of higher education: international mobility with academic recognition and international joint programmes.

2018: Monitoring the quality of life of patients and caregivers according to the Biopsychosocial model and the application of advanced Data Mining techniques. Bilateral Agreements - 2018 with the Universidad ISalud and University of Buenos Aires (UBA), Buenos Aires, Argentina;
The project aims to deepen the study and experimentation of models of objective assessment of the quality of life of patients and caregivers in the field of aging and neurodegenerative diseases, through the use of the Biopsychosocial model. This involves the vision of the patient-centered action, seen as a person and not as a separate element from the rest. The approaches of this type use techniques and methods of analysis and observation based on the anthropological, neuroscientific, psycho-social and economic aspects of the person managed in the clinical environment. To this we will add a type of analysis called Big Data, which allows us to manage variables, data and relationships in complex systems, typical of the clinical realities that we will consider, both in Latin America and in Europe.

2016: Project Manager: Data mining of hospital cost centers management. Effectiveness and quality of life. Bilateral Agreements - 2016 with the Universidad ISalud of Buenos Aires, Argentina;
The program of this bilateral agreement is linked to the previous one, again between Sapienza University of Rome and Universidad ISalud of Buenos Aires (2014), with the collaboration of UCADH (The University Consortium for Adaptive Disorders and Head pain). The previous Agreement, and the joint activities, allowed Sapienza to participate in the European LASALUS Project (Professionalization on Result-based Healthcare Management through Distance Education and Simulation-Based Training.) The Project was funded by the European Commission (EC) through the program Erasmus plus of the Executive Agency for Education, Audiovisual and Culture (EACEA) with about one million euros for three years During the project activities, started in October 2015, together with ISalud we identified a theme in-depth study that should be carried out through the agreement that we present in. The object concerns data mining and evaluation of the effectiveness of interventions in the clinical field.Our Department would make available the methodological skills, data analysis, software development ad hoc, in addition to clinical skills that have to do with the observed and perceived effectiveness of interventions and c obstruction of psychometric tools for the evaluation of patients' quality of life.

The project aim is to establish a connection among Universities, Research Centers, Research and Clinical Institutions in Europe and in Latino-America, in order to create a multidisciplinary comprehensive tutorial promoting the transfer of knowledge, education and good practice on Research Methods. The activities programmed in order to be shared are: e-Learning, e-Health, promotion of the international activities between Sapienza (Italy), ISalud (Argentina) and UCADH (Italy). The University Consortium for Adaptive Disorders and Head pain (UCADH) conducts research on a large scale in the field of head and facial pain, adaptive disorders and related comorbid conditions.
The Consortium comprises four founder members two universities and two research foundations and nine highly specialized associated centers spread across Italy. ICT and e-learning can improve the
collaboration between our universities, allowing researchers, clinicians and students to share knowledge and learning strategies.
Our goal it is to create virtual classes and laboratories, in the field of Research Methods, where it is possible to merge and share the different approaches and practice used in the universities and institutions involved. To increase the robustness of these learning method, we will use a blended way for e-learning activities. Periodically, researchers of the universities and institutions involved will organize seminars and workshop to the colleagues, showing the results achieved.
We promote the use of a Collaborative learning methodology. At the base of collaborative learning is the activity of each members, which activates processes of active learning" that takes place in a noncompetitive community in which all members of the group contribute to the learning of all collaborate in the construction of knowledge. within a group enhancement and collaboration underlying the Collaborative -Learning. It is a mode of learning that is based on the interaction within a group of students working together, trying to reach common goals , through an in-depth study and learning. on all parts of a patterned placing the same goal. Last, but not least, this methodology of learning and communication may improve learning in presence of some difficulties depending on sensorial or cognitive disabilites. All the courses were implemented on an open-access platform. The materials are completely accessible to people with sensory impairment (blind and deaf). Test and questionnaires for the evaluation of learning levels achieved will be implemented and tested for psychometrical robustness and validity. Both web_based and off-line input of data will be used. Also will be implemented questionnaires for the efficay and quality perceived by the students.

2017-: Member of the Research Group: "Research project for the ISTAT (the Italian National Institute of Statistics) Research network ; Development of alternative models to CGE modeling framework and estimation of wellbeing functions; Referente: dott. Fabiola Riccardini, ISTAT; Based on the current ISTAT state of art knowledge about well-being measurement and the overall sustainable and equitable well-being (BES) project, SDGs measures, the steps ahead will be addressed towards two main paths. On one hand an intermediate step will aim to estimate the total capital stock which include economic capital (physical and financial), natural capital, human capital, social capital and cultural capital in order to enlarge and complete the supply side function. Of course this line imply to solve many measurement problems related to the estimations of those quite new type of capitals, as natural, and reach a theoretical agreement for human and social capital. Nevertheless ISTAT is progressing in experimental data productions on those kinds of capitals.
Always in this intermediary stage we are looking to dashboard of indicators to analyse vulnerabilities and resiliencies for maintaining wellbeing over time. Vulnerabilities are approached by a risk factors analysis. Resiliencies are conceived as a mix of capabilities and capitals approaches. On the other hand of the main paths the goal will be to estimate an unconventional well-being function, namely the BES function, in which starting from the existing well-being domains selected variables will enter the function in order to state analytically what actually people value as wellbeing. Once the function will have been estimated an assessment of the environmental impacts on well-being will be feasible. This second line of action is the more challenging one, but major efforts are doing for reaching to a model of wellbeing, where the environmental aspects have the same importance than the economic and social as well as governance aspects.

Raising Achievement for all Learners Quality in Inclusive Settings (RA4AL), running between December 2011 and November 2012, set out to identify the key issues that need to be explored and strategies that appear to be successful in raising achievement for all learners in inclusive settings.

2013 : CIRNA ONLUS Foundation - Italian Center for Advanced Neurological Research (Pavia-Ferrara-Rome) "WHEN HEALTH SPEAKS ITALIAN"
When health speaks Italian "includes projects operational for years in favor of a category of particularly" disadvantaged "people, what are the sufferers of" headaches "accompanied, chronically, by physical / relational disorders that place them in conditions of weakness / difficulty / social exclusion. These are nonItalian-speaking migrants and foreigners who, due to obvious communication limits, more than Italian citizens are struggling to have access to medical assistance, for a set of disabling / partially disabling "headaches" which they represent, even for the migraine form, the eighth cause of disability in the world. These are subjective disturbances of a bridge between neurology and psychiatry, for which the verbal communication between doctor and patient is extremely important. For the diligent collection of symptoms, key in this type of pathology is the role of the ability of the cephalalgic to communicate with the word the information contained within an often invisible disorder, apparently sine matter: presence of symptoms without signs; without bioelectrical, bio-temporal, imaging, etc.

Luciano Mecacci, for the study of the psychophysiology of cognitive functions in humans, deepening the survey of levels of vigilance and stress;

from 1991 to 1993 he participated in a research project at the Institute of Psychiatry and Psychology of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome, responsible for prof. Giuseppe Ruggeri, on: "The formation of new mental structures as a result of a psychotherapeutic treatment"; in this context he dealt with statistical analysis of data and modeling of the investigated processes;

from 1995 to 2000 he carried out research with prof. Giuseppe Bombardieri - Institute of Medical Pathology of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome, using psychophysiological and psychometric techniques in the diagnosis and monitoring of the clinical evolution of Hepatic Encephalopathy;

from 1995 to 1996 he collaborated with the Center for the Diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, at the Department of Neurological Sciences of the University of Rome "La Sapienza", director prof.
