CRETA FRANCESCO
(programma)
The Combustion course is divided into three parts. Part 1. is a general introduction to thermodynamics. A ’postulational’ approach to thermostatics (H. B. Callen 1960) is used. Part 2. will focus on chemical kinetics and spatially homogeneous systems, from elementary examples to complex oscillating systems. Whenever appropriate, a ’dynamical systems’ approach will be consistently used. Part 3. will concentrate on reactive flow systems, where transport, in addition to reactions, will play a fundamental role. Attention will be essentially devoted to the two paradigmatic reactive flows: premixed combustion (deflagrations and detonations) and non-premixed or diffusive flames.
