The course provides the basics about energy storage systems, particularly focusing on battery energy storage systems. The interaction between batteries and electric power systems is described, showing that the overall performances of batteries strongly depend on such interaction. The course also provides the basics of computer programming and aims at implementing a software able to assess the battery performances when ancillary services are carried out in an real low voltage distribution network.
