Il corso di Inglese Advanced, previsto al secondo anno della laurea magistrale LM-36, è opzionale e sarà frequentato dagli studenti che abbiano già optato per Inglese 2 al secondo anno della laurea triennale.
Dal punto di vista strettamente linguistico, il corso – nelle esercitazioni con la lettrice madrelingua – tenderà a far raggiungere il livello C1/C1+, secondo i descrittori della nuova edizione della Common European Framework. Quindi verrà ampliata la competenza precedentemente acquisita, con approfondimenti grammaticali, sintattici, stilistici e pragmatici. Particolare attenzione verrà posta alla funzione EAP (English for Academic Purposes), poiché si presuppone che gli studenti che seguiranno il corso abbiano intenzione di utilizzare la lingua inglese come strumento di scrittura scientifica specifica nella loro area di specializzazione, anche nel prosieguo futuro.
Dal punto di vista contenutistico, verranno presentati ed analizzati in profondità testi di tipo scientifico, ovvero fonti primarie di appurato valore autoriale, che vertano su questioni teoriche riguardanti i Translation studies, la Theory of literature e Critical thinking.
