A partire da una lettura comparata dei romanzi Malone Dies di Samuel Beckett e Travels in the Scriptorium di Paul Auster il corso si propone di tratteggiare alcuni aspetti della ricezione oltreoceano dell'opera beckettiana e dell'influenza della sua poetica sulla letteratura americana contemporanea. Nel farlo verranno discussi e messi alla prova concetti critici quali metafiction, postmoderno, romanzo filosofico e creative misreading.
