I. HIGH VOLTAGE TESTS Introduction to high voltage installation tests for the reproduction of the overvoltage and overcurrent by means of a voltage pulse generators. Power Installations for the reproduction of sinusoidal AC voltages and DC voltages. Measurement techniques for high voltage test. High voltage test with particular regard to power transformers, cables for the transport and distribution of electricity, overvoltage protectors.
II. TIME BEHAVIOR OF ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS. Time behavior of electrical components subjected to thermal, electrical, mechanical, chemical and environmental stress. Aging, service life and reliability of a component. The criterion of "failure". Life patterns of electrical components under the action of heat, electrical and combined stress.
III. MONITORING AND DIAGNOSTICS OF ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS. The partial discharge tests as a technological control of a new component and as a non-destructive diagnostic test of components in operation.
Predictive maintenance of electrical components: monitoring and fault diagnostics. Examples for diagnosis of faults in transformers and cables.
IV EXPERIMENTAL EXERCISES. 1) Simulation of a pulse generator using simplified circuits 2) Project of duplicating circuits voltage 3) Tests using a pulse generator (Marx's diagram) of overvoltage protectors , cables and transformers 4) Testing a partial discharge of insulating oils, joints for cables and transformers
